ATS Walks: Thomson in Pollokshields @ Corner of Shields Road and Albert Drive
Jun 10 @ 11:00 am – 12:30 pm

This guided walk through Pollokshields and Strathbungo will reveal the impact of Thomson
on the townscape of this well-preserved Southside suburb. His internationally famous masterpiece (and home) Moray Place, his nearby villas, terraces, tenements and shops, and the work of his professional partners, pupils and followers can all be found concentrated in just a few streets.

Local architecture enthusiast Andrew Greg will put Thomson’s work in the context of Glasgow’s rapid expansion across the green fields south of the city. He will illustrate how Thomson’s distinctive style contrasted with, and influenced, the conventional Victorian speculative building of his contemporaries.
